The Union County Museum invested the money to restore the Little White Church, a Union landmark for over a century. Need a special place for your wedding or gathering? Talk to the museum about renting this landmark.
The Union County Museum chose Union to showcase their wealth of Union County history. Their most noted exhibit is their Cowboys - Then and Now presentation. They also have Oregon Trail memorabilia and hundreds of artifacts and documents donated by local founding families. When you combine all that with museum volunteers who cherish our local heritage, you can be guaranteed a memorable day at this museum!
The museum is working to expand its exhibits to show more of the daily life of Union County's pioneers. Our ranching, agriculture and timber heritage will be showcased in new exhibits being built.
One of the exhibits being built showcases the village blacksmith. In Union, who would be more popular than the man who made shoes for our horses, provided us with the metal for our harness and tack, made the hardware for our homes and the nails to build our new barns?
Our city volunteers working with the Oregon Parks Department to secure a grant that would help us build new restrooms in our city park for visitors and locals. Even in the severe winter weather of Eastern Oregon, these new restrooms will be in service year-round. It may seem silly to some, but in a part of the state where finding simple comforts can be challenging, this is just one more way for us to say "Welcome to Union".
